Overview
FUE Hair Transplant is the individual harvest of follicular unit grafts using a sharp metal tube called a punch.
Small punch holes are left behind in the donor area and usually heal on their own within a few days.
The most important determinant of FUE quality is the training and surgical skill of the surgical team.
What matters in the plan
- FUE is not truly scarless; the goal is to make small scars close to invisible on a hairy scalp.
- Follicle transection rate matters because donor hair is finite and must be protected.
- High graft numbers can damage the donor zone when planning is driven by marketing rather than medicine.
Does punch size matter?
Yes. Punch size should match each patient's follicle characteristics; too small can increase transection and too large can increase scarring.
Are manual punches always better?
No. The skill and integrity of the surgeon and team matter more than a manual versus motorized marketing claim.
